More than 1,200 rooms are expected to join the local hotel supply chain by the end of this year, with the majority in the four- and five-star category. The local supply of 29,400 hotel rooms was delivered by the end of 2021, rising to 37,600 in 2022. Meanwhile, the number of hotel keys in Qatar reached 39,200 in 2023, surpassing 41,800 last year, according to ValuStrat's latest Q4 real estate research. Tourism also reached record levels, surpassing five million visitors during the fourth quarter, a 25% year-on-year increase.
As a result, hotel occupancy rates increased by 15% annually to reach approximately 70%, with approximately 67% of the total hotel room inventory being 4- to 5-star hotels, 7.5% being 1- to 3-star hotels, and the remaining 25.5% being hotel apartments
