Resource Optimisation: What it actually means?
Resource optimisation ensures that people, equipment, budgets and time are allocated to the activities that create the most value, and that idle capacity is minimised. Consultants analyse workload, skills, asset utilisation and project pipelines, then redesign staffing models, shift patterns, asset sharing or approval processes to balance demand and supply. They may also introduce tools for ongoing prioritisation. This is particularly relevant in project-based, service or capital-intensive businesses where demand fluctuates. Effective resource optimisation improves productivity, reduces overtime or subcontracting costs, and frees capacity for growth work.
